S.C.S.L. Season 90

Season Summary

Season 90 was played using ratings based on the 1957-58 season in Scottish football. Kilmarnock, who had slumped following their challenge to Rangers in Season 88, came back with a vengeance and led the table for most of the first half of the season. They faltered, however, later on and Rangers built up a reasonably commanding lead over Killie and Hearts. Hearts and Celtic both finished the season strongly and on the last day of the season they and Rangers were all level on 47 points. Hearts did not have as good a goal difference as the other two so would need to better them to win the title. Rangers had a goal difference three goals better than Celtic, but Celtic went out to try and overhaul their rivals by winning 5—0 at Ayr United. Rangers, however, also won 5—0 at home to Dundee United. Hearts also took 2 points with a 1—0 win at Dundee so all three teams finished on 49 points, but Rangers took the title due to their better goal difference.
